David Sloan, a member of CS 2006 Games winning team Leeroy Jenkins (University of Rochester’s), was recommended to Google by one of his professors in October 2005. He was interviewed in Febuary this year and in April he received a job offer. In his own words: “While I’m under a strict vow of silence regarding specifics, I think it’s safe to say that the details are… acceptable. :-D

Turning down a Google job offer 1

Peter Abilla (who, judging from his blog, is no fan of capitalization) interviewed with Google in October of 2005. In his blog post he describes some mixed feelings towards the interviewing process and the interviewers. After the interviews, Google offered him a contractual position (presumably at Google Print) which he declined since he was not going to receive benefits or stock options.

One sentence in the post struck me as surprising (capitalization by me):

True, they hire sharp — really sharp people; I felt a lot of energy and could see the innovation happening there. But, the people I interviewed with didn’t seem happy to me. They looked tired and grumpy. I didn’t get a feeling that Google treats their people very well.
